The Winter Session of the Indian Parliament is slated to begin from November 24th, 2014. During the month-long session, crucial bills pertaining to GST, insurance and land acquisition will be discussed. As many as 67 Bills are pending in both the houses of the Parliament. The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has suggested a total of 22 sittings in the session.

The legislations listed below may dominate the agenda for the Winter Session of Parliament:

Ahead of the session, elections to 11 Rajya Sabha seats will be conducted on November 20th. Of these 11, 10 seats are from UP and one from Uttarakhand. The Winter Session is expected to conclude on December 23rd.

Several key pieces of legislation are still awaiting the Rajya Sabha approval. These include:

  • Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill
  • The Factories (Amendment) Bill and Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, 2014
  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) Constitution Amendment Bill
